Perform Like a Rock Star Review
Perform Like A Rock Star and Still Have Time for Lunch
I recently watched an interview with Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones on TV. He was talking about his life. As a teenager he just wanted to play the blues which is why he joined the Rolling Stones. Then he got rich and famous, but found this difficult to handle. As a result, he spent years in a haze of drink and drugs. He obviously had not had a happy life.
When I was given the book Perform Like a Rock Start by Orna W. Drawas to review, my first thought was that I did not want to be perform like a rock star, especially as being a rock star seemed to involve many lost years of drugs, misery and possibly an early death! But as I started reading it I was pleasantly surprised.
I discovered to my relief, that the book told me nothing about how to be a rock star, but everything about how to achieve peak performance. The comparison with rock stars is to do with how they perform and the success that they have, not the other, less savoury elements elements of their life.
Orna’s aim in the book is to take out the mystery of success. She clearly explains what is required to be successful. This includes:
- How to organize lists of actions
- How to focus
- How to avoid procrastination
- Coping with interuptions
- The art of delegating
- How to deal with emails
- The best way to deal with meetings
As you can see from this list, the book is about very practical strategies that you can use to become successful. The last part of the book is a workbook called the Peak Performance Program. This is full of exercises and forms that you call fill in the monitor your progress.
Some self development books are strong on theory, but not necessarily on how to put the theory into practice. Perform Like a Rock Star is very much concerned with applying strategies and tips so that peak performance and success is achieved.
If you need good sound advice on organizing your life in a way that cultivates success, then I recommend that you get a copy of this book.
I enjoyed reading this. But I’m still not sure about that title.
